Andrea Pritzker is an independent wine consultant, wine judge, WSET educator, writer and public speaker. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, she spent a study year in Heidelberg, Germany as a requisite for her honours degree in European Studies. It was in Germany that her passion for wine was ignited, sparked by the university’s sponsored trips to the local vineyards.
Upon returning to Toronto, she obtained a full time role in travel along with a part-time job working evenings at a local wine merchant. That same year she enrolled in an introductory wine course at the local community college, complementing her studies with numerous visits to the vineyards of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
The role in travel subsequently transferred her to Amsterdam for two years where she continued her wine studies, visiting European vineyards as often as possible and completing the WSET Advanced course by correspondence.
In 2002 she decided to make wine her career, moving to Bordeaux, France and completing a diploma in Wine and Spirits Commerce through IPC Bordeaux.
A chance encounter with a handsome Australian (now her husband) brought her to Sydney, Australia in 2003.
Andrea’s diverse career in the wine trade has spanned wholesale, retail, auction and digital marketing including roles as Auction Manager and Head of Content for Langton’s Fine Wines. Most recently she has become a director of Ashton & King, a start-up specialist wine venture. In September 2015, after ten years of study, she became a Master of Wine.
